Route Information
The 12K distance is the original Rabbit Run race which sees runners return year after year to take on the stunning course.
Set on the South Wales coast, the route offers something new to discover at every twist and turn, as well as a unique opportunity to run on the private grounds of the Merthyr Mawr Estate and through the Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve – a haven for wildlife.
The Rabbit Run 12K takes runners through grassy fields, enchanting woodlands and sandy dunes, including a tumble down the Big Dipper – the highest sand dune in Wales!
It’s then off through the picturesque Merthyr Mawr village, before running over the Ewenny River, past Ogmore Castle and its stepping stones to reach the race’s famed river crossing.
Runners will splash their way through the water towards the secret tunnel which will then see them head to the finish line in front of Merthyr Mawr House to collect their medal.
Please note: A large portion of the route is run on the private grounds of the Merthyr Mawr Estate, so it will not be possible to recce the course outside of the official event.
